Barnard Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Pharmacy Administration at the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy. Mickey Smith was an avid collector of pharmacy ephemera; these ads were taken from prominent medical journals published during the 1950s through the 1980s and depict a range of popular antianxiety medications prescribed at the time to reduce anxiety due to stress, nervous conditions, or serious medical ailments. Description An account of the resource The Frank Pinchak Poster Collection consists of a near-complete run pharmacy window displays designed and published by Frank Pinchak, a pharmacist in Paterson, New Jersey, in the 1950s and 1960s. Each set consisted of three posters: a main poster measuring 26 inches by 42 inches and two side posters measuring 14 inches by 26 inches. The posters educated consumers about a wide range of public health, pharmaceutical, medical, and other topics. Pinchak intended his"ethical displays" to be an alternative to commercial displays in pharmacy windows. Published by his company Professional Advancement Plan, Pinchak sold the posters to pharmacists around the country. He donated the posters to the American Institute of the History of Pharmacy in 2013. The collection is currently missing a few known posters including "The Miracle of Cortisone" and "What You Should Know About Cancer."
